When Luke aged out of foster care, he had no home and few options. He was sleeping in a tent in the woods of Burleson when he found Harvest House through a workforce program. After receiving food and clothing, he began volunteering—and later became a part-time employee.
With support and encouragement, Luke gained confidence and resilience. He rented his own apartment and eventually secured full-time employment with a national company.
“I feel like Harvest House is a safe place,” Luke said. His story reflects the power of community and the impact of donors, volunteers, staff, and local partners working together.

Just before Christmas, Tanisha came to Harvest House seeking help. Her husband was terminally ill and had just been placed on hospice. After our holiday break, she returned—newly widowed and overwhelmed.
We were able to provide rent assistance during a critical time. “It was a load lifted,” she said. That one-time support helped her stay in her home while managing unexpected expenses.

Mary turned to Harvest House during a difficult season. After receiving financial assistance, she sent a heartfelt note:
“What you gave us was more than a donation—it was a sense of normalcy and security. Since moving into our apartment, we’ve celebrated birthdays and shared dinners with family. You gave us a safe space. The key to growth is strong roots, and because of you, we have that.”

When CPS removed children from a dangerous situation, single dad RayShawn stepped in—not just for his own child, but also for his ex-wife’s two kids, keeping the siblings out of foster care.
Shortly after, he lost his job and faced eviction. With help from his caseworker, he came to Harvest House. We provided rent and utility assistance, giving him the time and stability to find daycare and look for work.

After being released from prison, Jeremy struggled to find his footing in a digital world. He came to Harvest House for food and financial help—and found more than just resources.
Our team coached him on budgeting and managing stress. Month by month, Jeremy stayed in touch, asked for guidance, and made steady progress. After three months, he no longer needed assistance and was moving toward lasting independence.
